Bloom (Dark grey) from gandia blasco - gan

With the Bloom collection, designer Hilla Havkin has created a tribute to botanical diversity, in which each design seeks to capture the unique essence of a specific floral species. A personal interpretation of the botanical universe she knows so well, as Hilla Havkin first studied Biology and later Architecture. This field represents, in fact, a central role in her way of approaching design, having as one of her main influences the Arts and Crafts movement, not only at an aesthetic level but also for its defense of artisanal manufacturing.

The idea was to represent each flower from a zenithal perspective and a certain flattened appearance on a neutral surface, in reference to the hobby the designer holds in her memory, as since she was a child she used to collect flowers and dry them between the pages of a book. Its design is produced by merging two artisanal techniques. On one hand, the flowers are executed by the embroiderers of the GAN Women Unit, while the neutral wool base is prepared on manual looms.

The different floral species of the Bloom collection, each with its own nuances and colors, are embroidered with great delicacy and skill, intertwining with a succession of horizontal and vertical lines. In the case of the Dark Grey model, it is the flower of the Salix Discolor shrub. The combination of both graphic resources represents a magnificent contemporary reinterpretation of the Arts and Crafts movement.
