Bloom (Beige) from gandia blasco - gan

Created by Hilla Havkin, the Bloom collection is a tribute to botanical diversity. A universe that the designer knows well, as she graduated in Biology before studying architecture. The idea was that its graphic translation onto a rug would represent, in some way, a memory she holds, as since she was a child she used to collect flowers and dry them between the pages of a book. That is why the representation of the flowers is made from a zenithal perspective and with a certain flattened appearance on a neutral surface.

Each design in the Bloom collection is composed of a succession of horizontal and vertical lines in which different floral species are intertwined, each with its own nuances and colors. Each model seeks to capture the unique essence of a specific floral species. In the case of the Beige model, it is the flower of the Sanguinaria Canadensis understory plant.

Botany plays a fundamental role in Hilla Havkin's practice, with the Arts and Crafts movement being one of her main influences, not only at an aesthetic level but also for its defense of artisanal processes. The Bloom collection is an exceptional contemporary reinterpretation of the spirit of this movement, through the delicate graphic translation full of unique details of each flower, executed with great artisanal skill by the embroiderers of the GAN Women Unit on a wool base made on hand-operated looms.
