D43 from tecta

William Dunkel designed the D15 chair for Tecta in the 1960s - Tecta has now carefully adapted it to the ergonomic needs of today and translated it into a contemporary version.

The newly developed version is called D43 and fulfils the desire for a softer and more organic design language. Gentle, rounded, cosy. With beautifully shaped seat cushions for long, comfortable and relaxed sitting. Ideal for cosy evenings with family or friends.

D43 is available in the version offered here as a comfortable dining chair with cantilever frame as well as the D43R desk chair. The tubular steel frame of the cantilever chair is available in chrome-plated, black lacquered or polished stainless steel. The seat and backrest upholstery are available in fabric or leather.

The new Oeko-Tex materials from TECTA are durable, skin-friendly and hard-wearing. Wickerwork materials that combine look and feel and epitomise Gropius' desire to see “art and technology” as a new unit. The tension between warm wickerwork and cool steel, between aesthetics and technology - this is what characterises the Tecta wickerwork collections. And also the two new wicker materials that combine functionality and aesthetics.

Each seat shell is woven by hand in Lauenförde. The other materials are also exclusively ‘Made in Germany’: the durable and tear-resistant polypropylene weave is made exclusively for Tecta in a medium-sized company in the Sauerland region. The cantilever precision steel tubes are manufactured in Upper Franconia by specialised metalworkers. The result is a chair that is traditionally manufactured but equipped with contemporary comfort. A piece of furniture that reflects the poetry of modernity but skilfully combines it with the needs of today.
