The armchair classic was designed by Mies Van Der Rohe, who mentored the company founder Florence Knoll and transferred the rights to manufacture his iconic chair to her in 1953, which is still made entirely by hand today.

In 2019, the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, Knoll is launching a special edition of the Barcelona armchair, limited to a total of just 365 pieces - one armchair for every day of the year. The limited Bauhaus edition is upholstered in elegant green leather and the delicate scissor frame is made of dark chrome-plated flat spring steel.
