The most iconic products Greta Grossman designed in the 40's and 50's were the Gräshoppa floor lamp and the Cobra floor and table lamps. Today, Grossman's product designs are highly collectible and are sold at auctions all around the world. Grossman's products are unique, modern classic designs.
The classic Cobra lamp takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a Cobra's neck. In 1950, the Cobra lamp won the Good Design Award and was subsequently exhibited at the Good Design Show at the Museum of Modern Art.
The Cobra lamp takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a Cobra´s neck (or hood). A solid brass arm joins the wall base and shade. The shade can be tilted 90 degrees from vertical to horizontal and it can be rotated 360 degrees. The base cover and the shade are in powder-coated steel and come in two colors: jet black and matt white. A bracket for mounting on the wall is integrated in the base as is the switch.
Design furniture and lamps made of different materials, in a timeless and stylish design are the result of the work of Danish design house GUBI. Curiosity, courage and intuition are key components for the success of the Danish furniture manufacturer, who looks for good design not only in the future, but gladly goes into the past to recover and revitalize forgotten design treasures of the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. The results are intercontinental designs, which combine the past and the future to timeless design classics.
