Gerrit Thomas Rietveld was a Dutch architect and designer. He became famous for his involvement in the group De Stijl artists. The De Stijl group of artists formed around an eponymous Dutch Journal for Visual Arts, edited by Theo van Doesburg and published between 1917 and 1932. Influential Rietveld was mainly due to the Rietveld Schröder House (Utrecht) and the Red-Blue-Chair. Also at the Bauhaus its ideas were taken up.
