Minimalism encounters opulence - Deep Tuft quite naturally resolves this obvious contradiction. The modular sofa was designed in 1972 by the New York designer Harvey Probber. The autodidact first coined the concept and the term modular (sitting) furniture in the 1940s; with Deep Tuft, he lifted his approach to a new level.
Fascinated with luxurious application examples from the automotive industry, Probber used especially developed urethane foam for the production of his sofa and thereby created an opulent reinterpretation of the stitched upholstery that was standard in luxury sedans at the time.
Thanks to its iconic design, Deep Tuft became the unwavering and up-to-date source of inspiration for many more sofa designs by renowned designers. Corner module, centre piece with backrest, and an element without back- or armrests enable countless variable combinations - from a linear arrangement to a broad sitting and lounging landscape.
